John Earl is Associate Professor of Finance and Chair of the Finance Department at the Robins School of Business; and past holder of the David Meade White Distinguished Teaching Fellow, University of Richmond, VA.  John serves as a Student-Managed Investment Fund Advisor and board member.

Among the awards he has received:  The Robins School of Business Distinguished Educator Award (2004-2005); Robins School of Business Dean’s “Unsung Hero” Award (2002) and the Robins School of Business Outstanding Teaching Award (2001)

John is active in the Richmond Society of Financial Analysts; Association for Investment Management and Research; Financial Management Association; Southern Risk Insurance Association. He also holds the following designations:  Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA); Certified Insurance Counsel (CIC); Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU); Chartered Financial Consultant (CHFC); Associate in Risk Management (ARM), and Certified Financial Planner (CFP).

John received his BBA and MSBA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and his PhD from Arizona State University.
